Description
The Kirishima azalea 'Stewartstonian' (Rhododendron obtusum) produces a veritable sea of red flowers in mid-May. Its winter-green foliage is medium green. This upright, stocky growing shrub usually reaches a height of 60 - 80 cm and a width of 40 to 60 cm. A semi-shady (to shady) location and well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil create ideal conditions for healthy growth. The Kirishima azalea 'Stewartstonian' is well tolerant of frost.
