Description
The Kirishima azalea 'Girard´s Scarlet' (Rhododendron obtusum) produces a veritable sea of scarlet flowers from April to May. Its winter-green foliage is dark green. This upright, stocky growing shrub usually reaches a height of 30 - 60 cm and a width of 60 to 90 cm. A semi-shady (to shady) location and well-drained, nutrient-rich, acidic soil create ideal conditions for healthy growth. The Kirishima azalea 'Girard´s Scarlet' is well tolerant of frost.

Rainwater is particularly suitable for this purpose. - Cut back frozen shoots to the healthy wood as soon as there is no longer any danger of frost.

The scarlet-red, funnel-shaped flowers appear from April to May. These grow to about 2 - 3 cm in size.
