The Makino rhododendron 'Rosa Perle' (Rhododendron makinoi) produces a veritable sea of dark pink flowers from mid-May to early June. Its evergreen foliage is a medium green colour. Even the silver-white new shoot is an eye-catcher. This broad, compact growing shrub usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.5 metres and a width of 2 to 2.5 metres. A semi-shady (to shady) location and humus-rich, lime-free soil create optimum conditions for healthy growth. The Makino rhododendron 'Rosa Perle' is well tolerant of frost.
