Description
The Black elder 'Aurea' (Sambucus nigra) is a broad, loose, deciduous large shrub with decorative, feathery, yellow leaves. It also bears creamy white flowers arranged in umbrella clusters in June. These produce red, round fruits from August. They exude a light fragrance. In a sunny to semi-shady location with humusy, calcareous, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 5 metres and grows to around 2 metres wide.
