Description
The Black elder 'Cherry Lace'® (Sambucus nigra) is a broad, loose, deciduous small shrub with decorative, deeply slit, dark red leaves. The green-red shoots are also an interesting sight. It also bears pink-red flowers arranged in umbrella clusters from May to June. Black, round fruits emerge from these from August. They exude a light fragrance. In a sunny to semi-shady location with humusy, calcareous, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 1.5 metres and grows to around 1.5 metres wide.
