Description
The Chinese stachyurus (Stachyurus chinensis) is an upright, broad shrub with decorative, green-red, round fruits. These are small. It produces green-white flowers arranged in spikes from March to April. The Chinese stachyurus also has egg-shaped, light green leaves. In a sunny to semi-shady location with nutrient-rich, sandy, loamy, weakly acidic soil, it usually reaches a height of around 4 metres.

Leaves
The deciduous leaves of Chinese stachyurus are light green, ovate, serrated and crenate. Chinese stachyurus turns a bright dark red in autumn.

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.
