Description
The Large-leaved lime 'Rubra' (Tilia platyphyllos) is a conical, spreading tree that produces creamy white flowers arranged in umbels with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from June to July. They produce brown, round fruits from September. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Large-leaved lime 'Rubra' also has heart-shaped, dark green leaves. The red shoots are also an interesting sight. Its bark is grey and longitudinally furrowed. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 15 metres and grows to a width of around 10 metres.
