Description
The Large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos) is a large, roundish tree that produces yellow flowers arranged in umbels with a pleasant fragrance. They appear from June to July. Brown, round fruits emerge from these from September. They exude a pleasant fragrance. The Large-leaved lime also has heart-shaped, medium green leaves. Its bark is grey and longitudinally furrowed. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, calcareous, nutrient-rich, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 40 metres and grows to a width of around 25 metres.
