Description
The Dutch elm 'Pioneer' (Ulmus x hollandica) is a roundish tree that produces red-violet flowers. They appear in March. These produce grey-brown fruits. The Dutch elm 'Pioneer' also has shiny, broadly lanceolate, medium green leaves. Its bark is grey. In a sunny to semi-shady location with calcareous, sandy, loamy soil, it usually reaches a height of around 18 metres.
